Life is da Bubble's Under the Sea

Last year, I wanted to make a cake for my mom's birthday, I had the theme chosen and even sketched it out. But we were out of town for her birthday, so I did not get to make one for her...I was super bummed! So this year I definitely wanted to make her a cake, even though I had barely anytime. This is one of the only cakes I have made in a day, baked it, frosted it, decorated it all in one day (and all by myself...something I am proud of :D ) My mom loves sea otters, and when we were vacationing in Monterey for her birthday last year, I came up with a perfect design for her cake. I wish I had a little more time on the cake for more detailing but it still came out well and my mom LOVED it, which is all that mattered to me. :)

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice...

My mom's friend from worked asked if I would make her daughter a baby shower cake for her party. She asked months ago, so I had a while to come up with the design. I was really super excited to make this cake for her because I had never done a baby shower cake before, but always wanted to! The baby is a girl which is even more fun, making everything girly!! The lady and her daughter had a theme for the baby shower already that they asked be incorporated into the cake which was baby dresses hanging on a hanger. So I definitely made sure to get that on the cake. I had the fun idea of doing a stork and baby on the very top of the cake on a cloud, I used melted marshmallows to make the cloud. I also made different baby things, bottle, binky, rubber ducky, a rattle, booties, and baby blocks. It was such a fun cake to do!

Schools out Foreverrrr...well until College starts ;)

A few days after the last two cakes, I was asked to make a cake for one of my good friends who was graduating high school. I love making cakes especially for my best friends. My friend is a very girly girl so I wanted to make it girly and fun, and totally her! And of course including a hat and diploma :D I also made cupcakes to go along with the cake. The cake came out nice and gltizy and girly...perfect for her!

Kayla's Hollywood Premiere

The very same weekend that I had the retirement cake, was also one of my best friend's birthday. She was having a birthday party as well. I wanted to make her a birthday cake last year but did not get the chance to because she was out of the country, so this year I definitely wanted to make her one for sure. For the longest time I had wanted to create a movie/Hollywood themed cake, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity! It was Kayla's 21st Birthday, and it was going to be a Hollywood premiere!! I had so much fun with this cake and it came out just as I had envisioned it...the pictures were not edible but everything else was. The cupcakes were made out of marshmallows.

Life is a Beach

After eight long and lovely years, our Pastor and his wife retired. I was asked by our church to make a farewell/retirement cake for a retirement party that the church was throwing for them. Of course I said yes and was excited to make a retirement cake because I have not yet made one. I sat down and thought of all the things that came to my mind when I thought of retiring: fishing, reading, traveling, golfing, gardening, painting, and grandkids. I wanted to make a cake that incorporated all of these things. I also wanted to incorporate them relaxing at the beach, because they loooove the beach. Put all these things together and this is what you get. :) I had fun making this cake and was happy with how it came out!

They Got Hitched!!!

As mentioned in the previous post, I had the amazing opportunity and honor of making my best friend's wedding cake! I have known Breanne for years (about 10 or 11) and after 5 long years she was finally saying the big I DO to the love of her life. I was honored and blessed to not only make the cake, but to be a part of the wedding as well. This was my very first wedding cake, I did not know what to quite expect, but was sooo excited!! It was fun, stressful, exciting, nerve wrecking...but in the end it came out amazing. It was such an amazing experience and I could not have done it for anyone better than Breanne. I am so happy I could do this for her and got the chance to make a wedding cake. The night was incredible, filled with so much love and joy and soooo much fun, it was an extremely memorable night. Congrats to my amazing best friend, Mrs. Breanne Walter!!!!

Best Wishes to the Sweetest, Bestest, and most Amazing Friend in the World!

My best friend is getting married soon, I am sooo happy and excited for her and also because I get to make her wedding cake!! I have never made a wedding cake so this will be my first, I am a little nervous but I am also so happy that I get to make it for her. But before I get ahead of myself let me rewind it back to her bridal shower :). I wanted to make her a cake for her shower and spent weeks trying to come up with an idea for her cake. I wanted something fun and cute! I though about doing a cake about her HS days when she met her future hubby, or doing a cake all about her. But I decided to go a different way with it. It is a wedding/bridal shower...so it should have to do with wedding stuff. The perfect idea came to me! And this is what I got...I also made cup cakes to accompany the cake!. I loved her cake...it was fun, cute, and very wedding-ish!

"She's Getting Hitched Cake"

Tale As Old as Time...

My little cousin LOVES Beauty and the Beast, especially Belle. So for her cake Belle needed to be the center of attention. I had fun with this cake too and was excited to make it because Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite Disney movies. Belle was the cake topper with all her little friends right below her. I loved how the cake turned out and the charcters came out great too...my favorite was little Chip. :)

"Beauty and her Friends Cake"

Return of the RUGRATS!!

So my friend from church asked me to do a cake, as previously mentioned. When she told me what kind of theme she wanted for the cake, I was filled with EXTREME excitement....so what is this theme you may ask??? Well let me tell you a little about it first. This "theme" use to be one of my most favorite shows growing up, and still is one of my most favorite cartoons (no it is not Snoopy and Peanuts, they are my first favorite, this is my second :) It was one of  the most popular cartoons during the 90's but they stopped showing this cartoon and I was heartbroken (ok, maybe that is a little to over dramatic) I was quite sad...yeah that is better...sad. Can anyone guess yet?? I will give you another hint...but this is the last one...BABIES!!! I hope by now that you know and if not well I am going to tell you...RUGRATS!! When she told me she wanted a Rugrat themed cake I was soooo thrilled! I loved the show and miss it. I had so much fun making this cake and it took my back to my good old days when Rugrats was on. The coolest part about this Rugrat cake??...it was for an 80 year old woman...how awesome is that!?! I was very happy with how it turned out espcially the characters...Chucky was my favorite so he was the one on the cake :D
